| Notes for biography |
* Andrew was christened on the verandah of the Government House because there were no churches as the colony was in the process of becoming established.
* Andrew and Lydia married in 1834.
* Note that Andrew's father also married a woman named Lydia (ie there are two Andrew Goodings and Lydia Goodings in two generations.
* Andrew and Lydia lived in Campbell Town and they had seven children from 1835 to 1848.
* In 1858, Andrew struck Lydia, she hit her head as she fell and died (see details in Lydia's biography). Andrew was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in Oatlands Gaol. Although he was found guilty of manslaughter, there was considerable sympathy for Andrew in the neighbourhood because he always maintained a good character for honesty, sobriety, and industry, as also a kind father and husband, notwithstanding the intemperate habits of his wife.
